Binaural hearing aid correction with one power supply

This thesis will be devoted to binaural hearing correction with single source power. This correction is aimed at elderly patients who are most likely to have presbycusis. The practical part contains a model of hearing aid and a possible way of testing. The work compares binaural corrections with proposed model.

Hearing loss during adolescence

The bachelor thesis deals with the impact of hearing loss on the lives of individuals with hearing disabilities during adolescence. The theoretical part of the text defines the concept of adolescence, the influence of hearing impairment on personality development, as well as information about the auditory systém and compensatory aids. The thesis the focuses on issues related to areas that are crucial during adolescence, namely education and preparation for future careers. The chapter on education for individuals with hearing impairments focuses on communication approaches and the inclusion process in schools in the Czech Republic. This chapter is followed by a section on tertiary education, which is part of the chapter about preparing for future careers. The aim of the thesis is to provide insight into life of individuals with hearing impairments, with an emphasis on the aforementioned problematic areas that need improvement. The practical part of the thesis includes an analysis of four interviews with three girls and one boy diagnosed with hearing loss. The identity of hard of hearing people

The bachelor thesis deals with identity of hard of hearing people. This thesis is based on the relevant scientific literature and is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The contents of the theoretical part are the identity and characteristics and clasification of elements affecting the identity of a person in general. The thesis focuses on identity formation of hard of hearing people. The practical part uses investigation to verify elements affecting hard of hearing people identity listed in the theoretical part. In the conclusion, the author summarizes the findings from both the investigation and the relevant scientific literature and formulates reccomendations, which suggest way to minimize negative elements in the process of identity forming and support healthy identity development of a hard of hearing individual.
Psychosocial effects of tinnitus

Annotation: Master thesis "Psychosocial effects of tinnitus" is based on a general approach to this phenomenon as a disease of civilization. The symptom that tinnitus represents is underestimated in Czech Republic as well as treatment possibilities and the impact of tinnitus itself on person's life and his/hers surroundings. It can have devastating consequences. Coping with tinnitus can be very difficult if not impossible and in the end it can lead to suicidal attempt. Similar negative effects as on affected person can tinnitus have on his/hers closest surroundings which could not understand him/her.
Individual speech therapy in school for children with auditory impairment

The subject of thesis was to investigate and compare the communication skills of pupils of the first class with a different type, degree of hearing loss and different living conditions. The methodology of work was based on principles of qualitative research; it is a case study of three students from the first grade class for children with hearing impairments; speech therapy of these three pupils who have different hearing loss and variable compensation of hearing loss was compared. Firstly, available materials of monitored pupils were studied, secondly the technique of "participant observation - full observer" was used to collect data. The set of thematic pictograms was used to compare comprehension and vocabulary of studied children. Significant differences between the observed students were revealed during the investigation. One boy (hard of hearing with a hearing aid) to communicates comparable to their peers without hearing impairment and had a very good vocabulary, which is probably due to regular wearing hearing aids since early childhood, early auditory and speech education and the excellent cooperation and support of the family. Quality of life of people with acquired hearing disability in adulthood

This thesis is focuced on the quality of life of people with acquired hearing disability in the age between forty and sixty years. In the theoretical part there are outlined physical, psychic and social characteristics of persons in the age range and then there are defined the elementary concepts concerning hearing impairment, diagnostics, compensation and there is also explained concept of the quality of life. Practical part of the thesis concentrates on a analysis of the qualitative research that the author of this thesis implemented. The aim of this thesis is especially to clarify how do people with the acquired hearing disability rate their quality of life - how do they interpret this construct, which aspects do they include, and how much does the acquired hearing disability influence their subjective quality of life. For that reason interviews with some informants were implemented. The results of the qualitative research shows that the essential effect on the quality of life of the individuals has their satistaction with their family life and their occupation. Informants describes occasional problems with communication that are caused by their acquired hearing disability, however, these problems does not influence the informants' subjective feeling of well being.
